Today I faced down what I fear most and made Shelby a doctor's appointment. Actually, I faced down two of the things I fear most: the German medical system, and my lingering German-language phobia, even as I'm able to conduct even-more-complex transactions . . . like making doctors' appointments.
(It seems highly unlikely that anyone who's reading this blog isn't already reading Shelby's blog, too -- but just in case, you can read about Shelby's latest set of medical woes toward the end of this blog entry.)
So, theoretically we've got an appointment for 4 PM next Thursday with one Dr. Axel Kaden. We'll find out next Thursday afternoon if I was actually as successful in setting up the appointment as I think I was ...
(How much this'll cost and how we'll pay for it is an open question, too; I assume we'll handle things in the typical German fashion and make a deposit into Dr. Kaden's bank account after the fact, but I plan on showing up with a fistful of Euros, prepared for anything.)
