In-Laws in Berlin
And now we've survived our second day touring greater Germany alone with Shelby's parents (even after waking up at 5:30 to catch a morning train to Berlin). Highlights of yesterday:
- The Pergamonmuseum (home to giant reassembled wonders of antiquity like the Pergamon Altar and the Ishtar Gate)
- The Alte Nationalgalerie
- The Haus am Checkpoint Charlie (see the history of divided Berlin, and what lengths people would go to in order to escape from East to West)
- The East Side Gallery (definitely looking much worse for wear than the last time we saw it, three years ago)
- Shopping at KaDeWe
Today we meet Gary and Shirley at 10:30 for one last day in Hamburg ...
