Tonight we went to Ralphs to pick up some baby food (we need the jars for our glass class). While waiting in line, the checker had the phone up against her ear and shoulder. Once we got closer, it became quite clear that she was just having a chatty, personal conversation with a friend. It was definitely not work-related. I was actually surprised. Even the Albertsons-Of-The-Damned in San Jose didn't have clerks chatting on the phone. This particular Ralphs is not known for their customer service, but I still found that a bit off-putting.
Posted by Shelby at September 28, 2005 08:26 PMBOYCOTT RALPHS! Ralphs is the absolute worst store on the PLANET! I'm talking among ALL retail stores. I was hoping during the last grocery workers strike that food workers union would disolve and they would all go out of business.
A few years back, I was in the Ralphs in Foothill Ranch (CA) and I was kneeling down checking out the "day old" bakery rack which was placed in front of the door leading back to the warehouse area. Well some "hefer" of a stock person barged out with a cart full of pallettes of bread and literally ran me over. The funny part was that she couldn't see around the cart to see what was blocking her cart -- so she tried pushing harder to move what was blocking the bread cart -- which was me!
Once she figured out it was a human body in her way, she just said, "Oh!" She didn't even apologize! Nor did she ask if I was OK.
Shelby, I would send an email to the regional manager of Ralphs!
