It's extremely windy right now--definitely the windiest I've ever seen Orange County. We are fine, however. There are fires in Orange County but not near where we live. Regardless, the air is thick and smokey. Our primary concern is our poor fence. It has needed to be replaced for some time now and since these winds are supposed to last a couple of days, I suspect that replacement may be sooner rather than later. Our next-door neighbor's fence went down the last big windstorm we had, and all of our fences were built at the same time out of the same material. It's really just a matter of time. But since Kevin just replaced the back and front stairs, it would be nice to have the fence hold up for a little while longer. For the time being, we're doing a visual check before letting the dogs out into the yard.
Posted by Shelby at October 21, 2007 10:34 PMWe're near the area -- neighborhood two miles from us was evacuated and we're on alert. (Foothill Ranch is the area -- we live in Portola Hills.)

Posted by: Joel at October 22, 2007 05:28 PMI sat on my fence at 9:30 p.m. last night and watched the hills burn and prayed the fire wouldn't jump the 5 freeway.
Today, we are inhaling smoke and ash. They suspect arson was the cause of the fire in Orange County (in Santiago Canyon near us.)

Posted by: Anita at October 23, 2007 06:52 PMTo say the least! I've spent the evening watching the products of that arson creeping down the mountain across the canyon from me and wondering if it will threaten our condominium.
